Job Title: Youth Services Librarian
Reports to: Director
Status: Part-time
Salary: $12/hour
Hours: 25-30/week, including 1 Saturday per month
Primary Responsibilities:
Patron Check-In and Check-Out at the circulation desk.
Assist with shelving, restocking displays, and maintaining the overall appearance of the Children and YA library areas.
Plan and conduct exciting new programs for kids and teens.
Assist with promoting programs through fun displays, flyers, digital ads, and bulletin boards that showcase what the library has to offer.
Communicate with patrons via email, social media, and over the phone.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with the periodic weeding of the children’s and YA collections.
Using an extensive knowledge of Children’s and YA literature, provide reader advisory services to young patrons and their parents.
Assist with circulation of staff duties as needed.
Must be able to lift 15-30 pounds
Other tasks as assigned by the director.
Qualifications and Skills :
A high school diploma or equivalency
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both children and caregivers.
Strong organizational abilities
Familiarity with digital technology, mobile devices, and social media
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and follow through on tasks
Work well both independently and collaboratively as part of the Children’s Services Department
