Programming Library Assistant (part-time)

The Clayton Library is looking to fill the programming library assistant position.

Position Summary:

Qualifications

  • Requirements for the selected candidate includes a minimum of a high school diploma. Willingness to work and maintain Indiana Professional library L6 Certification; Experience with young children; experience with basic internet technology; excellent communication and customer service skills preferred.

Benefits

  • This is a 20-hour work week with a minimum starting salary of $14.00 per hour.
    Could increase depending on skill and experience level.
  •  Hours are 2-7 pm (Mon, Tues, Thur) and 12-5 pm (Friday) and the First Saturday of each month, library closed on Wednesdays. Will be expected to work 1 Saturday a month.  

Responsibilities

  • An opportunity exists for an energetic, creative, individual to assist in developing, implementing and evaluating programs for children and adults.
  • The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties in all aspects of the library setting including: adult, children, and circulation services including computer assistance.
  • This is a high-visibility public service position in an environment requiring the ability to be flexible and multi-task oriented, exercise good judgment and demonstrate an ability to work well with both adults and children.
  • Must provide prompt, attentive, and friendly customer service in-person and by phone; represents the organization well.
  • Work with Children’s Librarian to design and create and implement programs for our patrons.
