The Hagerstown-Jefferson Township Public Library Board of Trustees seek a Library Director that is committed to serving the public by providing for the lifelong information, educational, recreational, and cultural needs of the community.

Under the general supervision of a 7-member board, the library director:

  • Administers all personnel, programming, financial, facilities and community relations functions of the library.
  • Submits recommendations for library policies and services to the Library Board and implements policy decisions set by the Board.
  • Prepares the budget for the library.
  • Prepares library annual reports.
  • Maintains a strong collaborative relationship with community organizations, local government, schools and other appropriate organizations.
  • Develops and implements library strategic plans.
  • The Hagerstown-Jefferson Township Pubic Library is a Class C library with 10 staff members and serves a population of 3,482 citizens in east-central Indiana with a current annual budget of $410,000.00.

Qualifications:

  • ALA -accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science, or be pursuing that degree.
  • Must be eligible for Indiana library certification LC3 or higher.
  • At least three years of professional library experience.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Strong financial management skills

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
