Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL) is seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a temporary Youth Services Assistant. This position is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with youth, providing excellent service, and supporting community programming during the busy summer months. This position will be available to external candidates only.

Location: Noblesville Library (with possible shifts at Fishers Library)
Hours: Approx. 20 hours/week
(flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and surrounding holidays)
Pay: $14.56/hour
Duration: Now through the end of summer

Schedule – This position follows a rotating 4-week schedule. Applicants must be available for the following shifts:

Cycle 1:
Sunday: 12–6
Monday: 4–8
Wednesday: 4–8
Thursday: 9–3

Cycle 2:
Monday: 4–8
Wednesday: 4–8
Thursday: 9–1
Saturday: 9–6

Cycle 3:
Sunday: 12–6
Monday: 4–8
Wednesday: 4–8
Thursday: 9–3

Cycle 4:
Monday: 4–8
Wednesday: 4–8
Thursday: 9–1
Saturday: 9–6

Essential Responsibilities
Greet and assist visitors, ensuring a welcoming and friendly environment
Register and maintain customer accounts
Assist patrons with reference questions using standard resources and online tools
Offer readers’ advisory support
Help customers with public computers, printers, copiers, and general tech questions
Collect fines and fees; maintain cash drawer and prepare deposits as assigned
Assist with library displays and ensure spaces are tidy and ready for use
Help maintain collections and materials
Support programs and outreach efforts based on skill level
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Availability for a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and rotating shifts

Preferred:
At least 6 months of library or customer service experience
Comfort assisting patrons with computers and basic technology
