Title: Encyclopedia of Indianapolis intern
Location: Collection Management – Special Projects
Hours: Grant Funded Hourly Position Fall 2025 – Spring 2026
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-18 hours per week
Starting Hourly Rate: $18.00
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:
The Encyclopedia of Indianapolis internship at the Indianapolis Public Library provides the opportunity to gain experience in content creation for Indianapolis history. Work will include using research and writing skills to create encyclopedia entries, timelines, features, and/or social media content. It will also involve collaborating with organizations and/or peers in the history and museum studies field. This is a temporary, part-time, grant-funded position offering work experience in the field of digital content development and curation.
A successful candidate will…
- Current graduate level student in MLS/MLIS/History/Public History/Museum Studies.
- Strong computer skills, especially the MS Suite of programs.
- Attention to detail and self-motivation.
- Independent, reliable, collaborative worker, comfortable working alone or in a group.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
What does the job look like?
Internship duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Research and write content related to Indianapolis history.
- Research and source images and other media for new content.
- Publish content in WordPress.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working with multiple assignments and priorities.
