An opening for an enthusiastic, energetic, and creative Children’s Services Librarian is available at the White River Branch. The successful candidate will provide welcoming and engaging experiences to children of all ages and their families. Providing reference assistance, readers’ advisory and innovative programs, services and outreach initiatives to meet the needs of children (birth-12), families and caregivers are the primary responsibilities for the Children’s Department. A love of children and children’s programming is a must to foster a lifelong love of reading. This is a high-visibility public service position in an environment requiring the candidate to be flexible, able to handle multiple priorities and tasks, and be adaptable to change.

Qualifications include an ALA accredited MLS degree, experience presenting programs for ages 0-12 with a knowledge of ECRR and STEAM education initiatives, and the ability to use technology to provide services to all ages. The ideal candidate will be an advocate for the library, with strong skills in creating and maintaining community partnerships, presenting to parents, teachers, and partners on library services, and performing outreach visits to local elementary schools, daycares, and social service facilities.
