The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating programs and outreach services that align with the library’s strategic goals and community needs.

LOCATION:  Mishawaka Library (location subject to change)

DEPARTMENT: Community Engagement

HOURS:  Full Time (40 hours, including at least one Saturday per month and occasional evenings to meet scheduling and programming needs)

WAGE:  $35.00 minimum starting pay

Essential Job Duties

·       Demonstrate positive leadership; serve on the MPHPL Administrative Team

·       Develop and coach direct reports

·       Develop strategies for library programming and outreach based on demographic data, patron interest and demand

·       Oversee all adult programs and culinary classes for all ages

·       Work closely with the Youth Services Coordinator for all ages/family events

·       Work with community partners to deliver bookmobile services to daycares, senior centers and other local institutions

·       Maintain relevant statistics and compile reports as requested

·       Serve on the Reading Challenge Committee

·       Assist with staffing service desks as needed

·       Participate in professional development to remain informed of current trends, emerging issues and best practices in public libraries

·       Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements (Qualifications)

·       Master’s Degree in Librarian Science (MLIS) or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (i.e. education, recreation) plus 15 hours of college level Library Science credit (LC4)

·       Two years of supervisory experience

·       Two years of experience in programming preferred

·       Valid driver’s license; position requires frequent travel and driving the mobile library van/bookmobile (extended Sprinter)

Work Skills

·       Good communication skills and ability to multitask

·       Strong commitment to customer service

·       Flexibility and creativity; experience in planning and conducting programming for all ages

·       Ability to instruct patrons and staff in library technology; ability to learn new technology quickly

Physical Requirements

·        Ability to pull a loaded cart.

·        Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds

·        Ability to frequently stand, bend or stoop

·        Ability, stamina, and balance to perform basic movements frequently

CLASSIFICATION:  8-Coordinator

CERTIFICATION: Indiana LC4 or above

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt

DIRECT SUPERVISOR:  Director of Patron Services
