POSITION: Systems IT Manager
LOCATION: Mishawaka Library (location subject to change)
DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Comptroller
CLASSIFICATION: 8-Manager
FLSA STATUS: Exempt

HOURS OF WORK: Full time/40 hours, 5 days per week.  Evening and weekend hours may be required to support the library’s technical scheduling needs.

WAGE:  $37.00/hour minimum based on education and experience

BENEFITS: As specified in the latest edition of the staff handbook or as amended by the Board of Trustees

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK SKILLS:

Bachelor’s Degree and/or certifications in Information Technology required; experience in a library setting preferred

Experience managing, implementing and maintaining an Integrated Library System and discovery layer; SirsiDynix experience preferred

A strong knowledge of library databases and digital products (Overdrive; Hoopla; etc.); website management and editing preferred

IT administrative experience preferred

Preferred technical skills and knowledges:
a.      Browser display and application technologies (CSS, JavaScript)

b.     Data visualization (MicroStrategy)

c.      Programming languages (JavaScript, Perl)

d.     Web site editing (WordPress)

e.      Applications (API)

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to multi-task, manage time and meet a variety of deadlines

Strong commitment to excellent customer service; ability to work well with patrons and staff

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The purpose of this position is to serve as the lead administrator for the Integrated Library System (SirsiDynix) and the catalog discovery layer (Enterprise).  This position will also be the lead support for all other library digital products, databases, and third-party software systems that interface with the library catalog and/or provide direct patron/staff services.

 

Essential job duties:

Administrative duties including IT supervision, vendor management, budget oversight and inventory

Administer, configure, and optimize the library’s Integrated Library System (SirsiDynix) in collaboration with other library staff; direct contact with vendor in terms of tickets and enhancement requests; participate in beta testing of new products; maintain the discovery layer (Enterprise)

Oversee all aspects of library technology (hardware/software) including digital products, databases, library digital app, and all other software (events calendar, discovery passes, patron incident reporting, etc.)

Investigate and implement updates, upgrades, and new technology to better serve patrons and staff

Lead the multi-department Technology Committee

Participate in professional development to remain informed of current trends, emerging issues, and best practices

Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the library

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to pull a loaded cart
Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
Ability to frequently stand, bend or stoop
Ability, stamina, and balance to perform basic movements frequently
