SUPERVISOR: Adult Services Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Adult Services

LOCATION: Maring-Hunt Library (2005 S High St, Muncie IN 47302)

JOB TYPE: Full-time (40 hours/week); nonexempt

PAY RATE: Minimum $15.75/hour; depends on experience

SCHEDULE: Varies; Mon-Fri, some Sat (open hours are Mon-Fri 10am-7pm, Sat 1pm-5pm)

To assist Supervisor with effective operation of the Adult Services Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform these functions satisfactorily.

  • Research and respond to customer queries by utilizing the multiple resources of the Library to obtain correct information
  • Provide Readers Advisory Services and train public on use of library resources and available technology, both individually and in group settings
  • Assist Department Supervisor with collection development and maintenance
  • Plan, promote, and host adult programs and participate in community outreach events
  • Monitor the physical environment, interpret library policies and safety procedures, and exercise judgement to provide effective library service

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
    Ability to obtain a Librarian Certification 4 or higher certification, which requires completing 15 hours of library science courses (IAC 5-1-8)

Preferred:

  •  Some library work experience
