POSITION: Adult Services Supervisor

SUPERVISOR: Library Manager

SUPERVISES: 3 Adult Services Specialist IIs (2 full-time, 1 part-time)

LOCATION: Maring-Hunt Library

JOB TYPE: Full-time, exempt

SCHEDULE: 40 hours/week average expected

COMPENSATION: Min $42,640.00 annually

POSITION PURPOSE
To manage the Adult Services department in assigned branch including collections, programs, services, and staff.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform these functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Manage assigned department staff (hiring, scheduling, training, delegating, coaching, etc.)
  • Plan, create, and implement programs and outreach activities for adults
  • Promote and maintain collections; assist Library Manager with collection development
  • Manage and develop information services for the community (reference, technology, user education, readers’ advisory, etc.)
  • Primary building contact in absence of Library Manager

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program at an accredited university
  • 3+ years of professional library work experience
  • Obtain/maintain Indiana Librarian Certification 2 (LC2) or higher (obtain within 6 months of employment) (CLICK HERE to learn more)

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience working with adults
