The Speedway Public Library is looking for an individual who is organized, enthusiastic and community oriented to be our new Adult Services & Young Adult Services Librarian.

The position would include programming, collection development, and informational reference assistance for adults and young adults. Other duties would include assisting in the management of the library in the absence of the director and coordinating on joint projects with both the Children’s Services and Outreach librarians.

Job requirements include an MLS (Master of Library Science) degree or working to obtain that degree, and strong communication skills. This position requires someone that is able to work on projects alone and work well with a team.  Knowledge of popular software and hardware, and Internet skills are required to accomplish job functions and help patrons with their computer needs.

The Town of Speedway Indiana is a tiny independent town adjacent to the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  It includes its own town government and award-winning schools.  Speedway has the rewards and feel of a great small town in a big city environment.  Making a difference and directly connecting with people are part of the Speedway experience.

The position is full time (40 hours a week) with a salary commiserate with degree and experience and is comparable to this position at other Indiana libraries.   Job benefits include health insurance and life insurance, generous sick time and four paid vacation weeks a year.
