Description/Responsibilities: The Westfield Washington Public Library serves a rapidly growing and vibrant community. In June 2024 we opened a New State of the Art Library to better serve the Westfield Washington Community, we are looking for an energetic, creative, collaborative, and innovative librarian that will interact directly with children, their parent(s), guardians, or childcare providers who attend Story Time, Public School or other Outreach locations. The Children’s Librarian will enhance the Story Time experience through the use of activities, songs, puppets, movement, and other initiatives in the Children’s Services Department. The Children’s Librarian will connect and support these children’s programs and activities with the use of children’s literature to ensure quality programming, for the daily maintenance and operational needs of the Children’s Services Department.
Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS/MLIS degree is required; may consider applicants who will receive their MLS/MLIS degree within one year from date of hire, starting salary may be adjusted accordingly. Excellent customer service and organizational skills. Knowledge of principles, methods and practices of library services including collection development and programming. Knowledge of Children’s Literature and storytelling skills. Must be willing to work nights and weekends. 40 hours per week.
Salary: $20.00 per hour with benefits, based on qualifications.
